Please note: If you wish to have your new flooring extend underneath appliances, vanities, bath tubs and toilets, you will need to hire an electrician and/or plumber to remove and reconnect before flooring installation can go ahead.
Many people don’t realise how much work goes into preparing a floor for laying carpet or vinyl floors. It’s not as simple as just ripping up the carpet or vinyl.
Getting your floor preparation right is essential. Improper floor preparation will make your carpet or vinyl flooring look unappealing and cause headaches later down the track due to lifting, bubbling or unattractive seams.
When you hire our team, we will remove all floor containments such as old adhesives and paints. We will check to ensure the floor is flat and comply with the manufacturer’s installation specifications using the manufacturer’s recommended adhesives to ensure warranties remain valid.
We take the time and care to ensure your flooring is prepped to perfection.
With a huge range of flooring options available, such as bamboo, vinyl, epoxy flooring and carpets, it’s not surprising that you might feel a little overwhelmed when it comes to making a decision.
Whether you have a new build or existing home renovations, our friendly staff can help demystify the difference between flooring types and help you select a style to suit your budget and lifestyle.
Aside from cost, there are many factors that may effect your decision. For example you need to consider your style of decor, whether you have messy pets, children with asthma or allergies, whether it’s a high traffic area, and how much time you have to invest in cleaning and maintenance.
Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have about your flooring, our staff are happy to help.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Maintaining your carpet is important. With the correct care, your new carpet will maintain its appearance for longer.
The use of large mats and rugs in front of frequently-used used furniture like favourite TV watching chairs and dining room tables can help reduce wear and tear caused by shoes. It can also prevent pile crushing from heavy furniture. Also ensure your carpet is protected from prolonged exposure to sunlight.
A good quality vacuum cleaner is essential as basic models will only remove surface dirt. A light vacuum is recommended at least twice a week. Steam cleaning is recommended annually and should only be performed by a professional carpet cleaner.
With minimal maintenance and cleaning your flooring can look as good as new. Although most vinyl are water-resistant, floors should be cleaned with minimal moisture. We recommend giving your floor a good sweep or going over with a microfibre mop that uses static electricity to pick up dust.
Vacuum around the perimeter, then use a spray bottle to distribute a fine mist of water before mopping. Wipe up any residual water.
Avoid the use of steam mops as this can loosen the adhesive. Ensure heavy furniture like fridges and freezers sit on furniture pads to avoid permanent indents.
